We contacted our travel guru, Ron, who suggested we went to Seminole State Park.
That's what we did. His directions were good, as was his advice.
The town we were in wasn't much to write home about, so a day spent in Seminole State Park couldn't do us any harm.
On arriving we were immediately struck by the beauty of the place. Wide open parkland, with a lake int he middle.
We bumped into a lady in the carpark who was booking a camping pitch for the weekend to escape Hurricane Matthew. We call her Linda in another blog post. Linda assured us that ALL campgrounds were fully booked as people fled Florida.
Then we went to try and book in.
Angela, one of the Rangers there, took our booking.

She was completely taken by our accent and because we were her on Harveymoon! She was tickled by the fact that the computer said "No" to most of her inputs for us.
My phone number wouldn't fit in the boxes tidily.
Our address made no sense to her PC. When nothing seemed to fit, we suggested that she made it up! This is not something we would normally do, but the whole process of booking us in was becoming ludicrous! So she put our address as 123, Honeymoon Road, England. Nice one Angela.
And as for our ZIP Code (Post Code), well, that was just a bit too much for poor Angela! They want 5 numbers here. Not some letters, some numbers, then some letters.
You may be thinking that Angela was a bit divvy by now. Don't you believe it for one moment.
She then went on to tell us that she had killed a 9-foot alligator with a crossbow, - in Seminole Park lake!!
Don't mess with our Angela!
Alligators, turtles, snakes - all are here, if you can find them. They kept a snake in a tank in the office for us all to see.
We didn't find anything though.
We tried. As usual, I was keen to find dangerous wildlife. So we took the bikes and cycled round the lake in the early evening, - the time when all good alligators come out to lounge around on the lakeside.
Here are some of the pictures of the park. It was lovely. The most wildlife we saw was geese.
And the attitude of the rangers was very friendly and helpful. We could have stayed longer if we had wished. They would have let us, even though there were no free official camping pitches left. How kind of them.
Tim spent a bit of time here fixing bike gears (again). This time he got it right!
