Today we said a fond farewell to our beloved friend, Harvey. He has served us faithfully and well for 10 weeks.
We met Ron at Camping World, Tallahassee. Camping World is a big RV and camper chain of stores around the country. They sell everything from toilet paper, to BIG RVs.
We were a bit later than we wanted to be, because of the usual last minute panics and hold ups with packing. These things always happen, don't they!
Good as his word, Ron was there to meet us. Ron has been our travel guru. The unseen one on our travels. Whenever we've needed a bit of advice, Ron has been there for us, to guide us on our way. We can't thank him enough. He should be in business as a travel consultant expert!
He kindly took us to pick up a hire car, and generally brought us back down to earth, so that we didn't bump or crash-land.
Soon we were on our way towards our flight home from Orlando international airport.
Ron had suggested a few places for us to stop off en route, and he suggested Steinhatchee, FL would be a good choice.
Right, yet again, Ron. Star man!
Fare thee well, Harvey. We will miss you.
Last night we were aware that it was the big showdown between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. It shouldn't have been shown before the watershed of 10 pm, but it was.
They slugged it out, mercilessly exposing each others indiscretions.
As one person we met said, "Are they the best two Americans we can offer for presidency?" He seemed ashamed of the whole thing.
Tonight we found ourselves in Steinhatchee and booked ourselves an inn for the night. The receptionist, Becky, suggested a few places to eat. Casey's Cove was one of them. She said it was by the gas station. Ruth thought this meant a place like those towers for delivering North Sea Gas. A gasometer thing! I thought it probably meant a petrol station. It was a diner. Just the sort of thing I like. Good food in there we hoped.
Anyway, we found it and got ourselves some delicious food, superbly prepared for us by Megan.
Marvellous Megan, and Ruthie
She served it up to our specification and offered us advice for some of the ingredients.
Megan was one of those better Americans, of which there are plenty. The shame is that they are not in high office. Megan was polite, friendly, obliging, and thoughtful.
It was a pleasure to meet you Megan.
We will blog about the things we like and dislike about USA in an exciting upcoming blog. But for now, we want to say that we have come up trumps (NOT "the Trump") in meeting Megan and Ron & Cecile.
Ron Baker for President! That's what we say. He'd sort the country out!
Big RV rig, plus Harley Davidson, plus car leaving our site this morning! Nice!
