To Smoky Mountains

Go large on cheese-puffs?

Our journey yesterday, brought us to the foothills of The Smoky Mountains. Our intention is to travel up the Blue Ridge Parkway. The journey wasn't without its challenges. For a start I had to do my toenails. This, as most women know is an important aspect of life, one that can't be messed about with or messed up.

To save time, I thought I would do the simple thing....do them while Tim was driving. Enough said. Tim and I (me sooooo much less than Tim of course) hit the rumble strip at the side of the road on every journey......the rest I will let you imagine! I finally gave up.

Having happy thoughts
Now, it is well known in the Parfitt family and more and more understood in the Dickinson/Hulks family that going shopping with Tim is like taking 30 children on a school trip. You want them to have freedom to wander, but with careful supervision. He can't be left to wander without being watched as I WILL lose him. That's ok, if he has his phone on or has his hearing aid in so I can call him, but it is a great risk if neither of these are available! Believe me, in an instant he disappears.

My husband!
Our visit to Walmart was by all accounts a simple visit, just needed a few things like milk, meat and drink for the fridge, but Tim saw car accessories, and he was off......totally oblivious to anyone or anything else in the store. He mumbled under his breath 'This is Timmy heaven'. I followed close enough to keep an eye on where he was, but far enough away for him to believe this was independent browsing. He went to the tools, saw BIG tools, looked at machinery and oils and chains and screws and wonderful things like angle grinders, and at that.....his eyes were alight with joy and excitement! He even suggested we took one home.

While we were there, we saw this wonderful elderly lady, stooped over and yet working for Walmart. Tim was sure his mum had died, but here she was, re-incarnated in Walmart!

A hard worker!
Turning another corner, we both stood in absolute shock! There is Walmart, our version of Asda, was a gun section! They had every type of guns you could imagine. We were horrified! Turning another corner there were crossbows of ever type possible. These weren't children's toys, these were items that could be bought by anyone with a license.

A tiny amount of the guns available in Walmart

At the end of the day we detoured off to find this place....

Home from home!
