Dear Jan, who is she?

Since getting home, several people have asked the questions,

Who is Jan?

Is she a real person, or, either of you (Tim and Ruth)?

We are now free to reveal the identity, and divulge the truth.  Jan is a real person and not fictitious. 

She's the one in the left of the picture, the smiley one.  She wouldn't confirm her age, but she is as old as her skin, and a bit younger than her teeth.
