Church

This morning we asked God where we should go to church today?  We thought it was best to ask Him where He would be turning up, rather than us deciding that for Him.  After all, He may not have been in some places?!
Church choices!
As we left Myrtle Beach campsite, we went past a worship service on the campsite.  We had dismissed that as probably being a bit half-baked, with a poor turnout.  As we drove Harvey past the covered rest area where is was being held, we were made to think again.  Instead of a half-baked, poor turnout, there was a huge crowd of believers sitting on picnic benches listening intently to a preacher.  Music was heard earlier when Tim strolled down to have one last look at the lovely beach.
We had got that decision rather wrong!  There must have been a couple of hundred people sitting there worshiping God, before their day started in earnest.  We felt a bit humbled by it all.  We thought we were up with the lark and out to church in good time.  These people were up before us and going for it.
Never mind.  We pushed on.
Our first attempt to find a church was a bit disappointing.  We pulled in to one church, and Tim went to have a look.  The doorman welcomed him.  When asked what persuasion we were, the reply left another onlooking shrinking back as if he had met the devil incarnate!  We decided not to got there for church.
Second attempt looked more promising.  Tim swung Harvey round using the now very familiar handbrake turn, only to find out that the smart church we passed was from the Latter Day Saints type.  Oops, nearly went in there!
Third attempt left us a bit bewildered.  It was called the "Fellowship of the Excited".  Hmm, maybe not our bag.  Goodness knows what goes on in there?!
Fourthly the Pentecostal Extreme Holiness church didn't quite fit the bill for us either.
Feeling rather despondent, we more or less gave up on the likelihood of finding a church today.  It was gone 10.30 am, the time when all good souls go to church here.
But surprise!
We saw The Church of the Resurrection Anglican church.  Service at 11 am.  (Well,... the third service was at 11 am).  It would have to do.
Another swift handbrake turn with Harvey and we were back in their large car park.
What a welcome we received!
What a wonderful time we had there!
We felt completely at home and felt the presence of God in the place.  Never mind that they were having a service to bless animals next week, they really welcomed us.  Andy and Sheila welcomed us, and then sat with us.  The band played This Is Amazing Grace, - one of our wedding songs, and led worship superbly, and sensitively.
Main priest in charge, and retired elderly priest, giving it some!
The vicars were all bonkers (in a good way) and full of life.
Stephen Davis, who preached!

It did us real good to be there!
God bless you all at Church of the Resurrection, Surfside Beach. South Carolina.
